Original SOLD, limited edition prints SOLD OUT, a few Artist Proofs may be available.

This painting shows a good overview of the condition of the Kennicott mine buildings before any stabilization efforts began. The bridge was still passable, albeit somewhat spooky, the small building without a roof on the lower left is totally gone now. Today the rotten roofs are repaired and made weather tight, foundations are rebuilt, the entire top on the large mill building at the top right is rebuilt, the bridge washed out during the fall of 2006 and will undergo major repair, and many other improvements too numerous to mention have been accomplished. Overall the landscape has not changed much except the willow and alder bushes around the buildings are larger. Alaska artist Gail Niebrugge is very proud of all the work that is being done to stabilize and preserve this historic place, and proud to be a part of documenting the contemporary history through my drawings, paintings, journals and photos.

  1. Ann DeSalvo says

Kennicott has been one of our favorite Alaska spots for many years. We took visiting Minnesota friends to the lodge for an overnight stay & mine tour last weekend. We were told while there, the National Parks Service has made the decision to close the mine for a 3 year restoration project. The ammonia leaching building is already closed for asbestos abatement. I purchased your poster for a souvenier and just found my one year old lab chewing the tube & contents. I’m now on your web site disappointed to have missed your open house while trying to decide which available “real” Kennicott piece to purchase as a replacement for my chewed poster. Your input would be appreciated.

  2. We have three or four Kennicott prints here at the studio, you can browse the Sold Out section of this website and see two that are available to order online. Better still, come on over and visit, just give us a call. Thanks, Gail
