Fishhook Trail Hatcher Pass

One cool summer morning we decided to hike the Fishhook trail in Hatcher Pass, a 1,500 ft. climb to the 4,069 ft. peak of Marmot Mountain. The year round trailhead is located at Fishhook parking lot just before the Hatcher Pass Lodge. We began with low clouds shrouding the peak, and wildflowers blooming everywhere. A beautiful place to hike!

What a beautiful hike, the clouds came in and out, hiding the distant peaks then opening up just enough to reveal themselves. Such wonderful material for future paintings! This scene is at the first false summit, the first of many.

Every time I thought I’d reached the summit another peak loomed ahead even higher. What you cannot see in this photo is the next level of peaks hidden in the clouds. This is where I stopped, it is visible from the road and was my goal. What a magnificient hike this will be on a clear, sunny day. It was magical in the clouds, and perfect for today.
