Alaska artist Gail Niebrugge painted this scene depicting the beautiful rolling hillsides that dominate the region before the Savage River along the Denali National Park road. This section is open to the public in vehicles and traffic is often piled up when a moose or caribou or other wildlife appear close by. Original painting “Timberline” shows the tundra in the full fall splendor that appear near the end of August and the first week of September each year.
