Artist Niebrugge watches World Classic Baseball Team vs Giants

ChasePoolThe final day for Alaska artist Gail Niebrugge and her husband Bob at the Giants spring training baseball in Phoenix, Arizona, featured a tour of Chase Stadium, home to Arizona Diamondbacks.  What a place.  Natural grass playing field and a dome that closes overhead that can reduce the temperature 30 degrees in 4 minutes!  Most amazing is a pool along side the field that can be reserved for private parties to include catered food!  What is this world coming to????StadiumMistsThe final game in the program was between the winner of the World Baseball Classic, a team from Japan, and the Giants.  The Japanese team soundly defeated the Giants in 90+ degree heat.  Spectators that sat in shade covered seats were treated to a gentle overhead mist of water that cooled the temperature significantly.  Niebrugges group was seated in the full sunshine and abandoned their seats during the first two innings, carpet-bagging empty seats in the shade.  The evening was topped off with a personal discussion by the Director of Umpiring Office of Commissioner Major League Baseball, Randy Marsh.  Such insights into the job of umpire!  All good things must come to an end, artist Gail and her husband Bob will enjoy one more day of sun on their own before they return to their home in Alaska.
