Winter Long Slow Sunsets at the Lake

SunsetView of the lake from the studio artist Gail Niebrugges on the second floor of her home on Finger Lake, Alaska around 4:00PM December 26, 2013.  A fresh snow shows a few snow machine tracks, and trails made by vehicles leading to the best ice fishing spots.  Otherwise it is pretty quiet for the day after Christmas.  This weekend the lake will be busy with everyone trying out new skis, snowmobiles, ice fishing tents, rods and reels.  Some will ski for exercise others will use it as a means to walk the dog.  The moose tracks down by the dock are covered up as a new snowfall brings a clean slate to make new marks.  We have passed the winter solstice, now each day will grow longer, at first progressing slowly then picking up at a very fast pace in the spring.  Winter in Alaska, beautiful!
