Alaska artist Gail Niebrugges favorite place to hike and sketch the wildflower Iris is a section along the Glenn Highway in the mud flats near Eklutna.  Every June the marshes are jeweled by thousands of these blooming Iris that range in color from deep purple to pale lavender, and she finds it truly a sight to behold.  Many other wildflowers thrive in this nurturing environment where Niebrugge gathers research for future art work.  Painted in 1998, “Four Iris” celebrates the audacious flashy style of this stunning flower.
