Last Spring I spent nearly a week in the field photographing migrating birds to use as reference in future paintings. This effort resulted in all the birds I am now using for the Mat Su Day School Per Cent for Art, to eventually be installed in the entry lobby. Here are two more in the mid stages of completion. I hope to get all of them to this level, then spend a week or so finishing details. The project is coming along very well, I have no further concern about finishing by the deadline and having surgery on my shoulder at the same time. I’m spending 8 hours a day, 7 days a week painting and am enjoying the total immersion into my work. My studio is full of these birds, and the yard is full of the spring time migrating birds. A wonderful time of the year in Alaska!
