Big Mural for Downtown Seward!

The other day I received an invitation to design a painting and oversee the painting of this design onto a large surface (approximately 10’x40′) that will be mounted on the outside of a building in downtown Seward. The town already has several of these large-sized murals on the exterior of buildings, and they give the place a charming, arty look.

I was asked to utilize wildflowers in the subject matter, maybe big close-ups or as part of a landscape. This will require some serious thinking and planning. I paint with a technique called pointillism (the use of small dots) and this piece will be executed in pointillism, but because of the size I need to use large dots, very, very large dots. A team of 20-25 painters will work under my direction for two days, September 23-24, to create this mural. It will be a huge challenge, and a lot fun at the same time.

I look forward to working on this project, and will keep you informed of the progress step-by-step. Check back from time to time for updates!
