Last night I received a phone call from the Chairman of the Board of the Alaska State Council on the Arts, Ben Brown, who gave me some wonderful news, I was selected to be the 2012 recipient of the Governor’s Award for Individual Artist. I was stunned, and it still hasn’t quite sunk in. There are so many, many deserving artists in Alaska, this is indeed an honor. It is humbling and awesome all at the same time. I am truly blessed and very thankful. Thank you to my good friends and collectors who made this happen, and a big thank-you to the Alaska State Council on the Arts. I was proud to see that one of my favorite groups, the Valley Performing Arts is receiving the award for Arts Organization. Way to go VPA!!
The awards will be given out at the Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities Ceremony next Thursday night beginning with a champagne reception at 6:00PM at the Hotel Captain Cook, Anchorage, Alaska. Tickets are going fast, if you wish to attend you can register on the ASCA website, or call the office at 907-269-6610. Hope to see you at the awards. And, again, my humble thanks. This is honor is overwhelming.
