Above is a close up view of a section of the glacier moraine in the Kennicott painting. At this stage very few dots have been added, what you see is mostly underpainting.
Dots have been added to some of the crevices, exposed glacier ice is shown by adding some areas of blue and white. Roof tops are painted in pointillism. Note the cast shadow on the roof from the cupola is made up of blue and blue violet dots.
