Pointillism Detail 17

The above close-up detail of a section of the Kennicott original painting shows the use of a multitude of colored dots. I chose this example to illustrate how tightly the dots are placed, and I’m not done yet by a long shot. Most artists quit long before this because the work is so tedious.SpruceBushes2.jpg

The changes in this section are becoming subtle, most of the additional work is to the large spruce tree. For some reason I don’t mind the time consuming pursuit of painting with my particular adaptation of pointillism. I find it challenging and rewarding. The drawback is that it is slow, and prohibits generating a large number of originals per year causing higher prices. Although I make my living from my art, I choose not to sacrifice quality for quantity.

More tomorrow.
