Artist Gail Niebrugge accepting Alaska Governor’s Artist Award
Gail and Alaska Governor Sean Parnell on stage at the Governor’s Awards Ceremony where Gail was awarded Artist of the Year, 2012. Gail was presented a beautiful art piece with a beadwork design by one of Alaska’s Native Living Cultural Treasures, Delores Sloan of Fort Yukon, Alaska. The award event is produced by a partnership with the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Alaska Humanities Forum, and the Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation.
Present for the festivities at the Hotel Captain Cook, Anchorage, Alaska, are Gail’s husband of 51 years, Bob, her son, photographer Ron Niebrugge and his wife and business partner Janine Niebrugge of Seward, Alaska, and long-time friend and artist Sue Zajac who submitted Gail’s nomination. Two tables at the awards dinner were filled with friends and supporters of both Gail and the Arts Organization Award winner, the Valley Performing Arts Association. Palmer and Wasilla, Alaska, were very well represented at this prestigious event. Gail is humbled and honored to be selected for this important award and proud that her work is recognized by her beloved state of Alaska.
