Looking back on my recent travels, I think I enjoyed the botanical gardens in each town as much as I did the scenic countryside or wildlife. The rose garden at Christchurch was equaled only by the color and varieties of the dahlias.

I am so glad you got to enjoy the gardens in Christchurch. When were in Christchurch in 1997, the big cathedral had been cleared of seating and the whole floor area had been covered in a floral painting. Wonderful! I loved Christchurch.
They were having the festival of the flowers when we were there, and even though it was the end of the season, flowers were everywhere! What a delightful idea.
