“Copper River Country” was painted from the vantage point of a rest stop at the top of Simpson Hill along the Glenn Highway, a scenic pull-out that is used for Easter Sunday sunrise services by the local community. Alaska artist Gail Niebrugge’s time in this incredible, wilderness community was so enriching and enjoyable that the Niebrugge family extended their vacation in 1976 to experience a winter. It has been 36 years since that summer, and the Niebrugge’s have never gone back to California except to visit. The family’s experiences with re-locating and establishing a home in this remote environment would fill a book. Looking back it is interesting to see that artist Gail Niebrugge created paintings during these years that give a personal glimpse into the contemporary history, landscape, lifestyle, way-of-life, wildlife, flora and fauna of this exquisite remote wilderness region. “Copper River Country” original painting by Alaska artist Gail Niebrugge is offered in a min print on acid free paper with fade resistant ink, matted 8?x10? with silver gray black core and acid free backing, each hand-signed by the artist.
