I love to grow Snap Peas, Snow Peas, and Green Beans. Some varieties will grow up to 6′ tall and need a trellace for support. We built these simple trellises with 2′x2′ wood frames and garden twine for the grid. In my last garden I experimented with some scrap wire mesh, and later built very “artsy” structures out of twisted and bent willow branches. I’d like to do that again, but this year the simple wood and string approach will suffice until I have more time.
More tomorrow.

Enjoyed your piece on trellises. I have an abundance of black locust trees here of all sizes and have considered making trellises of them. Your artwork is beautiful. I am a barn artist and do my work in charcoal. Love those old barns and weathered abandoned farm buildings. Thank you.

Thank you Martin;
I still have the wood and twine trellises, but your note has reminded me that I want to replace them with “artsy” ones of bent willow. Best of luck using black locust trees, I’ve never seen one of those. I don’t think they grow in Alaska.
