Pointillism Detail 5

Above is the original underpainting of a section of the Kennicott Copper Mine original painting showing the distant mountains. I added pointillism to the the green tree areas of the mountain and I have used extensive overlapping pointillism in the sky.
At this stage I have added more pointillism to the green tree areas and to the rock slide areas of the mountains. One of the challenges when painting landscape is to create distance, or depth. The mountains will be refined until they give the illusion of being far away. I am also mulling over the sky and think I will change it totally after the mountains are more complete the color is too bland and lacks drama. In a word, boring!
More tomorrow.
