Original Painting of Mt. McKinley
This spectacular original painting, titled “Parting Clouds”, was painted with thousands of tiny dots a technique called pointillism. It is one of a kind, a perfect focal point for a large room or lobby. “Parting Clouds” can be seen on my web site at Original Paintings - Parting Clouds.

My goal is to feature the incredible Mt. McKinley in a painting from a completely different view and circumstances from other paintings and photographs. First I chose a large vertical sized board for the grounds to emphasize the height and immensity of the mountain, then established the focus not on the whole peak, but part of the peak. Most traditional Mt. McKinley paintings show the entire mountain with some trees, or a creek, or a small cabin in the foreground. I wanted to emphasize the rugged snow covered peak and some weather situation that the peak is famous.
The peak creates its’ own weather and is hidden by clouds most of the summer and visitors rarely get a glimpse of the entire mountain. My original painting shows the peak bathed in alpen glow as it is being revealed as the big lenticular clouds dissipate late one evening. The point of view is from the steep cliffs after the Eielson Visitor Center in the heart of Denali National Park, Alaska. I spent weeks and weeks in the park, watching and waiting for an event such as this and feel that this original painting shows the true spirit of the mountain.
