The Steller sea lion in Alaska spend summer on exposed rocky outcroppings in traditional rookeries to breed and pup, and migrate to spend winters in protected areas. They are listed on the Endangered Species Act and the populations are on the increase since 1980. Adult sea lions are very big, anywhere from 700 pounds to well over a ton, and are very curious and fun to watch.
