Mended Trellis

MendedTrellis.jpg

My home-made garden trellis’s began to fall apart this summer.  With almost constant rain my pea vines grew very heavy, and along with rotting string I found the whole vine support system on the verge of collapse.  I did emergency patch work repair, and wrapped string around the outside of the vines for additional support.  At the end of the season this year I’m going to re-string all three trellis’s and change the design.  First, I’m making the grid much smaller, instead of one foot squares they will be 6″ or smaller, and second I’m going to find a string that will not rot.  I’m also planning to be creative and make a design with the string that will be flowing, wavy and irregular.  Should be fun to make, and look great!

More tomorrow,
