I’m Lost Without My Pocket Camera
My little digital Cannon PowerShot A85 failed me at the Make it Alaska show yesterday, I have been using it almost every day since my children gave it to me as a Christmas gift many years ago. I’m lost with out it. During the show on Friday I tried to take a couple of photos during the busy time in our booth to post on this blog when the LED screen went white, like it was all fogged up. I shot photos anyway, because this ancient chubby has a viewfinder, and I’ve used it many times in bright light conditions when it was hard to see the LED. But, the flash didn’t power so all the shots I took were underexposed, way too dark. I’ll try changing batteries, but new ones were installed two days ago and the camera usually just quits when the batteries go bad. I think this is the death knell for the little Cannon, my friend. We will be too busy in the booth today and Sunday to run out and purchase a new one, the camera I’m favoring is the Panasonic Lumix, so I guess I’m without photos for the blog unless I bring in the big SLR, but I don’t really have space to store a big camera in the booth. So go the woes of everyday business in my world, the camera has been my friend ever since the black and white film in a black box that we used when I was a kid.

Hi Gail, I came across your blog on late night, while looking for other artists selling note cards. Searching for ideas on how to sell them on my website more properly, prices etc. I noticed in your first entry on the blog that I read, you are thinking of getting a Lumix, I have one and love it! mines the FZ28, sometimes I put a big zoom lens on it and love it for bird photography, but usually they’re blurry as I hand hold. But good for references and identification. I also use a tiny Olypmpus 7. somthing megapixal. I love that tiny camera. I hope you visit my (mostly) nature sketching blog, you can look at most of my photos from this past summer to present is where I used both these cameras. I love how lightweight the camera is and that’s why I got it! Also for the digital zoom. Good luck looking for a new one. Great art btw! my site is http://www.marymcandrew.com blog is on there.

Hi Mary!
How nice to hear from you all the way from England!! You are indeed a paintress, I love that word. Thanks for the camera tips, I’m looking forward to the new slim line of the of the Panasonic. I’ve enjoyed looking at your website and reading your blog. Keep up the good work.

Hi Gail, I bought your print of “Sunflowers” yesterday at the “Make it Alaskan” festival. I just love it. I hung it above my bed, & can see it from my computer desk. Looking at it makes me feel so happy. I have no artistic talent whatsoever although I used to be somewhat of a musician, but I really enjoy various types of art, & my theory is that the world needs both the artists & the “appreciators”. Takes us all! I don’t have a “favorite” form of art, I just occasionally find that something speaks to me & if I don’t listen, there’s a sense of loss. “Sunflowers” spoke to me loud & clear & I’m grateful that I was able to get it. Thank you.

What a sweetheart you are, I really enjoyed meeting you and watching your reaction to my painting “Sunflower”. You may not realize how important it is for an artist to see someone really respond to a painting the way you did. It touched my heart and made all the long hours of painting worthwhile. Bless you and may my sunflower shine on you every day and bring you joy for the rest of your life.
Hugs,
Gail
