Cross Stitch of Original Painting “Open Water”

“Open Water” an original painting by Gail Niebrugge translated into cross stitch by Evelyn Harvison of North Pole, Alaska.
Evelyn wrote to me in 1996; “I like to think upon my patterns as a service–both to the artist and the stitcher. The patterns are a PR service to the artist and a challenge to the stitcher. Although admiring your art, I was hesitant to attempt such a translatiion of your prints. Then I got to thinking, why not? A cross stitch picture is built up of discrete squares of color, much as your paintings are built up of discrete points of color”
I gave her permission to create cross stitch patterns and she eventually produced the three shown in the last three posts. It is an honor and a privilege to work with such a talent.
