Ten inches of fresh powder cover the little mosaic bench that resides along the lake shore of Alaska artist Gail Niebrugges studio. Most of this accumulated in 24 hours. As an artist Gail loves new snowfall, the interesting shapes and designs created make beautiful subjects to paint. Gail especially loves to see the spruce trees with a heavy load of fresh powder and prays that the wind will not blow until she is finished with her sketches and photo research for use in future paintings. Two days ago the land was bare with only occasional piles of slush from December, the landscape changed overnight! Alaska weather is bigger, stronger, and grander that most other places in the U.S. and is one of the reasons that the artist loves living here.
