Alaska Equinox

The hours of daylight are equal to the number of hours of darkness now, and changing by minutes every day.  The days are sunny and above freezing, snow is melting fast.  My neighbor had a big job this winter during the almost daily snowfall, keeping his skating rink groomed and clear of wind drifts.  It is in perfect condition at the moment, and he hopes it will last through the weekend when his grand kids will come to play hockey.  This is my favorite time of the year to take my daily walk on the lake, it is a beehive of activity with ice fishing, snow machines, sleds, and ATV’s scooting all over.  There are some very solid and well defined ice roads crisscrossing the surface, and it makes for easy walking (wearing cleats).  Last evening my walk was punctuated with visits by neighbors who were also out enjoying the warmth of the sun.  Spring time in Alaska!
