Adios Beloved State Fair!

FridayFairThis will be our last year in a booth at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer.  We have the booth listed for sale and although we do very well at this venue, it is time to retire.  Twelve hour days on the weekends and ten hour days during the week are for the young, both Bob and I can feel the effects of this pace and are wearing down.  We love the fair and best of all seeing all our old friends each year, but we are beginning to understand the meaning of retirement.  I will continue to paint at the studio, and it is always open for visitors by appointment.  We will encourage people to visit to see new work and make purchases for the Holidays.  This winter I will be working on a large project for the lobby of a new school, so the studio will be full of big bird shapes in various stages of being painted.  So, stop on over when you are in the area!

Nostalgic feelings. What an epic amount of work and energy you have both put into the State Fair. I imagine fair-goers will miss your booth greatly in the future, but an invitation to your studio would be a treat for them. (Happy memories of ours.)

I imagine the load to take home will be much smaller than when you set it up!

Well done, Gail and Bob. You have earned your retirement and the different pace.

  2. Time to make changes Noella, you are right!
